When is the Typhoon season in Taiwan?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Most typhoons hit Taiwan during the summer months, between July and September. We usually have four to five typhoons a year.<\/p>\n

Before the Typhoon<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Clean all outside drains of debris.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    IMPORTANT: Check periodically throughout the storm to clear out new debris, otherwise flooding will occur.<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Secure all personal items outside, including scooters, plant pots, bicycles\u2026etc., anything that can be picked up by strong wind gusts. Any loose item can become a dangerous flying hazard that could hit a person or window.<\/li>\n
    2. Stock up on water. Due to high turbidity, water supplies during and after typhoons cannot be properly treated and are not safe to drink, usually for days after the typhoon.<\/li>\n
    3. Stock up on food. Stop by a neighborhood supermarket or 7-11 for canned foods and foodstuffs that don’t need to be cooked in case of a power outage.<\/li>\n
    4. Charge up electronics in case of a power outage.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      During the Typhoon<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Stay indoors. This is the simplest, yet most important tip to remember.<\/li>\n
      2. Stay away from the windows and glass doors.<\/li>\n
      3. Check your balconies periodically for potential flying hazards, and don’t forget about the drains.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        After the Typhoon<\/strong><\/p>\n

          \n
        1. Make sure the storm has finished passing through the area before going outside.<\/li>\n
        2. Check water quality and do not drink if water is murky or appears abnormal in any way.<\/li>\n
        3. Do not visit mountainous areas because mudslides\/landslides are more likely to occur.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
